BIG DAY PART 2 (FCBD)

Well, it's over. I quit.

Just kidding! Had a blast yesterday! Caught up with Mr. Hitch again, we talked about him doing an upcoming cover to a book (One of Repercussion's books! Bryan Hitch!!), we're going to discuss, yada yada yada. Hey, we're all prostitutes, us artists! Also, talked to the talented Josh Boulet and Josh Howard, don't know how we'll swing it on the budget but I've got some KILLER talent lined up for cover art!!!!
Sold some books, gave some away, made A LOT of friends, hung out with Ronee Bourgouis from Friends of Lulu (link)

She was a hoot! I missed hanging out with her at STAPLE, so we hoisted a few Friday night and had a blast! Can't wait to see her again.
Whew! After my morning at CAPE, I went to my signing at TNT where I had my own room! Laid out my art, spent the afternoon meeting some great people, did some sketches, signed some books, sold some art, had a blast! Came home, and Sky High was on cable, what better way to finish off an awesome Free Comic Book Day!
I seriously need to get back to the artboard and practice, after seeing what I saw yesyerday, but I have never been more inspired.
Rock on folks, and KEEP DRAWING!!!

BIG DAY! (PART ONE)

Well, it's Satruday May 6th! Free Comic Book Day! 7:45 am! I am so psyched; I didn't sleep much last night, due to an adrenaline high hanging out and talking with BRYAN HITCH! Yes, THE Bryan Hitch! What an exceptionally cool dude! He told me some stuff that was top secret, so I can't tell you, but it is going to be BIG!!!
We talked about inkers, 'swipers/lifters', Authority, Ultimates, writers, and we even got to talk food! He's got a potato salad recipe he's going to email me and THAT I can share with you!
I need some aspirin and coffee right now, but I'll be back later today with Part Two of FCBD after my signing at TNT!!!

Marvel Zombies!

Here are some pieces I did for sale for Free Comic Book Day. I zombified some cool characters, and they turned out pretty decent! I think the Wolverine piece turned out very well, but somes likes the Spidey.

The Cover (duh!)

It has come to my attention that I have never displayed the cover to Sketch #1. Here it is!
BTW, I just received the preview copies from SIPS in the mail, and this is one fine looking book! The quality print job done by Jeff at South Island Printing is excellent. If you want to check them out, go ot

and give them a view. The only drawback is that the lovely US Government has raised/doubled shipping into the US, so the cost on the book went up dramatically.
The high cost of doing indie comics, I guess...
Regardless, things are going well. It's a beautiful sunny Easter Sunday, and I am doing a bunch of Marvel Zombie drawings for my upcoming signing at TNT Comics here in Lewisville on Free Comic Book Day, May 7th. How cool is that?

Okay, okay, it's been a couple'a weeks, I admit, but it was worth it! Sketch #1 went off th SIPS for printing this afternoon! Man, it is a work of passion, this one, and I hope I can keep the enthusiasm up for #2 and #3!! This is not the book you read to young Billy right before bed!

Here's a sneak peek at Page 21, the penultimate point in young Jimmy Bigby's eight year old life. Gives me the creeps!!!

OREXIS, OH, OREXIS

Okay fanboys, here's a new piece (no pun, of course) for you to drool.
This is a look at Orexis from The Colony Vol 2, set 100 years after the ending of Colony Vol. 1. She aged pretty well, didn't she? WOW!!!
Anyhoo, Jason, Alan Evans and I 'met' for an e-summit regarding the future of Repercussion Comics, and DWP is going to play a major role in the revamp of the company!! Exciting stuff, to be sure! Alan is a very talented man in his own right with his workshed studios, and his Wolrd Wide Solutions book.
Major changes, new books, this is going to be a great year; hang on to your hats!
I gotta go back to the drawing board, and finish up Sketch.

TED TURNER BE DAMNED!

Okay, okay, it's been too long! Not that anyone reads this ANYWAY, but here is the colorized version of the first page of Paradise. I think Jason really digs this, and I threw the whole thing together in a week-end (six pages, SLACKERS!!!)
I promise to get some new Sketch material up; I need to just FINISH the damned thing. It will seriously only take me a week to do, so who's the slacker NOW???

I get to draw Kreetor!!! Wow!!!

Well, it's official; Jason finally trusts me enough to draw Kreetor! His creation and personal project since he was knee high.

Here is 'Paradise' page one!! I did this in about 45 minutes because I was so excited!!! I've never done much Fantasy work, so this will be an exciting diversion when I get bored of vampires and abused kids with imaginary friends!!!

IS IT SUNDAY ALREADY?

Man, has THIS WEEK flown by! I can't believe it's Sunday already. Well, here's a sneak peek at The Colony #3; I think Janus is coming along fine, now. His look is more defined, and boy, doesn't he just look evil? The Photoshop is getting easier, except it SUCKS on a PC. I gotta start using my MAC mini more on the art stuff. Does anyone know of a good driver download for a Mustek A3 USB scanner for MAC?
Yeah, I didn't think so.
STAPLE is just around the corner, so if anyone actually reads this, I'll be in Austin next Saturday peddlin' my wares and selling some books and doing some sketches and drinking alcoholic beverages.

Some 'Other' Stuff...

Here is the title page for a piece I did entitled 'The Last Believer'. This was a pretty grim piece on the end of times, and how it relates to our society today and the near-future. Okay, slightly improbable, but highly familiar. I really dig the Underground Comix feel it has, lots of heavy lines and dark tones, kinda like some old Spain work from the '60's. Welcome to my 'World'

Hello
Welcome to my space. Deadly World Productions is my 'label', if you will, under which I do my comic creating. Right now, I am in the middle of a four-issue mini-series entitled The Colony, and working on an extremely disturbing piece called 'Sketch'. I will be previewing art from both, and any other projects I feel like sharing at any given time.
NOTE: I will be at STAPLE on March 4th in Austin with my co creator Jason DeGroot with The Colony #2 and some other books we did under Repercussion Comics and the UFO (I'll explain later).
